The Brisbane-based Senior Strategy Manager, Commercial Performance and Insights is an exceptional opportunity working with an ex Top Tier strategy leader.  

This role is responsible for providing thought leadership on data-driven revenue opportunities and refining the commercial strategy and roadmap across all commercial functions in order to achieve the company’s overarching revenue ambition.  

This includes being actively involved in preparing for CEO/Board updates and management level performance tracking to generate insights that are ongoing. 

As a leader of the commercial analysis team, you are responsible for providing insightful, proactive, and accurate analysis of revenue performance. This is done in order to identify the drivers of commercial/revenue performance, and to provide the commercial division with robust data-led analytics. In doing so, you will help functional leaders turn opportunities into tangible commercial actions. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Spearheading the development of our commercial strategy and roadmap in order to achieve our overarching revenue ambition.  
  • Working across different commercial functions (such as channels, customer segments, marketing, revenue management) in order to generate revenue growth. 
  • Actively support preparation for ELT/Board updates by developing management level reporting. 
  • Proactively identifying opportunities and leading cross-functional coordination when required.  
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders across the Commercial functions and across the Group 
  • Leading a team of commercial analysts supporting relevant commercial functions.  
  • Actively involved in leading and contributing to the Commercial Performance and Insights team of analysts by sharing your best practices. 
  • Capacity to turn data into insights is essential for making sound business decisions. 
  • Help uncover trends, gaps, and opportunities so that there is improve on commercial performance.  
  • Proactive in their analysis – people who are not afraid to ask questions and think outside the box.  

Background & Skills 

  • Experience in strategy/management consulting coming from a Top Tier consulting firm (MBB, or alternatively Kearney, OW, Strategy&, Monitor Deloitte etc) with 5+ years experience in leading strategy development, roadmap and planning, with orientation towards commercial performance and outcomes 
  • Experience in translating business questions into analysis to prove/disprove hypothesis 
  • Experience in leading a team of commercial analyst and continuously optimise for priorities 
  • Experience interrogating and analysing large bodies of data to generate actionable insights 
  • Experience in preparing CEO/Board level presentation 
  • Ability to synthesis insights into a management level narrative to drive decision making 
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral 
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills 
  • Advanced Excel and PowerBI skills 
  • Cross-industry benchmarking and application in sales and distribution performance

    This is ASX listed company is looking for a Sydney-based Group Strategy Manager. This role will provide support to the Head of Group & Insurance Strategy in order to enable him/her to develop the company’s Group Strategy and deliver on its vision. In addition, this individual will be responsible for supporting all aspects of customer, employee and shareholder outcomes over the short-, medium- and long-term horizons. 

    Key Accountabilities:

    • Responsible for developing and implementing actionable business strategies across a range of specialist focus areas.  
    • Work interchangeably across strategic, specialist focus areas; Insurance Strategy; Group Strategy; Group Planning; Business models & Opportunities.  
    • Support HO with the strategic planning cycle including authorship of materials, supporting analyse and facilitation of discussions 
    • Responsible for defining and deploying our Insurance strategy.  
    • Ensure that this strategy is aligned with our culture, cost and capital strategies, as well as outlining key strategic opportunities.  
    • Engage with business SME’s in order to collect data on plans and activities which can drive shareholder and customer outcomes. 
    • Identify key areas of content, such as leadership strategies, organizational culture, employee productivity, etc.  
    • Make informed decisions about how best to communicate these topics to employees and stakeholders. 
    • Discuss future trends that will impact the organisation and strategies to position the company.  
    • Provide strategic pathways for the organisation to outperform peers and identify optimal composition of Group portfolio based on business needs.  
    • Bridge gaps between different areas within the Group by building linkages where necessary. 
    • Support the Head of Strategy in preparing for key Board engagements throughout November and May will ensure timely delivery of quality materials for Board and ELT deliberations.  
    • Support Head of Strategy in preparing for key ELT engagements throughout the year will help to ensure that Australian Insurance remains at the forefront of education innovation. 
    • Explore opportunities in Australian insurance on various horizons – short, medium and long term. In order to support this growth potential. 
    • Liaise with Bank and New Zealand strategy teams and executives for business planning. 

    Key Competencies: 

    • Demonstrated experience applying strategic frameworks and concepts through either a strategy position or through a consulting background  
    • Exemplary customer focus, strategic mindset and ‘outside in’ thinking.  
    • Ability to effectively collaborate across the business to deliver ‘Win / Win’ scenarios for all parts of the organisation  
    • Ability to align resources across the Group to achieve their Business Plan & deliver on the agreed 3rd party revenue targets.  
    • Strong Program Governance  
    • Ability to work with Risk team to challenge the current Risk Appetite Statement  
    • Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to effectively resolve conflict  
    • Mastery of leadership and change management skills, consultation, influencing and negotiation capability.  
    • Strong understanding of the regulatory environment in which the business operates, including regulatory requirements

      • Strong written and presentation skills and the ability to convert data into insight and prepare compelling, persuasive reports and presentations

      • Experience in successfully partnering across functions in the development and implementation of strategies to deliver commercial outcomes within complex, matrix organisations

          We are hiring for a Sydney-based Senior manager, Group Strategy.

          Group Strategy is a function reporting to the CEO that develops and drives a coordinated strategic agenda across the Group while reinforcing the Group’s Purpose and Values. They are responsible for developing and driving the Group’s strategic agenda and coordinating with other functions on project priorities. 

          These activities include several different tasks that are still being refined.  

          • Review and analyse the operating environment, identify potential medium to long term issues and trends that are strategic for the Group’s portfolio of businesses.  
          • Evaluate the implications of environmental change and make recommendations to help achieve the Group’s vision and objectives over the medium to long term. 
          • Take charge of developing the annual company strategy with the help of the Executive Leadership Team and Board.    

          This is a very senior role in the organisation, reporting directly to the General Manager. The Group Senior Strategy Manager is responsible for shaping, scoping and delivering high quality strategy solutions at the corporate level. A person who takes up this position will report to the General Manager and be responsible for contributing to, and often driving project efforts to drive high impact outcomes supported by quality research and insightful analysis, producing high quality discussion papers and visual communications. 

          Job Requirements: 

          • Completion of a bachelor’s degree 
          • Several years’ experience in strategy, corporate finance, venture building or similar 
          • Exposure to the financial services sector is a plus
