The Sydney-based Head of Growth Strategy is responsible for leading the development of the broader Commercial strategy and transformation roadmap, to achieve our aspiration. Their main responsibility is to identify opportunities to accelerate growth. This role is also open to Melbourne, or Brisbane candidates as well.

In this role, you will work with a team of Strategy Managers and Analysts to help identify and assess opportunities. These opportunities could be anything from new product development to working with a customer to improve service. There would be sprints, with the goal of coordinating with relevant functions and teams within the company.  

As Sydney-based Head of Growth Strategy, the role is to understand our customers’ needs and design initiatives that meet or exceed those needs. You will also be responsible for preparing outputs to communicate recommendations, analysis, and value capture. 

This focuses on performance benchmarking and insights that help executives make strategic decisions and developing solutions to commercial challenges.  

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead strategic projects and deep dives, proactively identifying and scoping commercial opportunities. 
  • Capture commercial insights, create value optimization models, collaborate with Commercial Leadership Team on prioritization of effort 
  • Thought partner to GM Commercial Strategy to prioritise direction and goals 
  • Track the effectiveness of an initiative, as well as measure areas such as user uptake. 
  • Develop trade-offs and recommendations for our Commercial team. 
  • Responsible for communicating any risks or issues that may arise with a project. 
  • Lead and contribute to the team by coaching, mentoring and developing a Manager and team of Analysts.  
  • Analyse data to identify trends, gaps and opportunities, and understanding drivers of commercial performance analytical tools.  
  • Promote a data lead culture using data and analytical decision making across the Commercial Division. 

Background & Skills: 

  • Experience in top-tier strategy/management consulting (4+ years), or similar functions in industry (7+ years), with experience in leading strategy development, roadmap, with orientation towards commercial performance and outcomes  
  • Ability to translate business questions into critical analysis to prove/disprove hypothesis  
  • Preparing CEO/Board level presentation  
  • Ability to synthesis insights into a management level narrative to drive decision making  
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral  
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills  
  • Competent user of Excel 
  • Strong strategy toolkit  
  • Cross-industry benchmarking and application in sales and distribution performance  
  • Attention to detail with respect to interrogation of data quality and the generation of commercial insights

The Payments team is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Group’s portfolio payments products, developing and delivering payments strategy and innovation across retail and business payments, whilst leading the design and execution of the Group’s payments strategy. We are tasked to hire a Sydney-based Senior Strategy Manager – Payments.

    As a Senior Manager in the Payments Strategy team, you will be responsible for supporting and developing the Payments strategy for the business and driving strategic projects end to end across the bank related to Payments. 

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Learn to understand business problems and areas of opportunity, determining the solutions that are most appropriate for the specific business situation.  
    • Assist in the development of a strategic agenda, including the design of a future capability delivery roadmap. 
    • Collaborate with the different business units, so that the strategy is fully implemented. 
    • Be responsible for solving problems and seizing new opportunities  
    • Collaborate and influence internal stakeholders at all levels. 
    • Engage the Payments Product teams to support strategic development for critical capabilities.  
    • Manage and mentor more junior team members  

    Key Requirements for this position are:  

    • Experience in consulting / strategy / transformation from a brand name strategy consulting firm. 
    • Experience in the financial services industry sector, with the addition of a keen interest in the payments space.  
    • Strong communications skill to enable you to collaborate with teams on work streams/ project activities end to end and independently manage deliverables.  
    • University degree qualification in business, technology, law, or commercially related discipline.

        Background & Skills: 

        • 10 years (+) commercial experience across loyalty / marketing/ key account management / sales 
        • Extensive experience in 3rd party Relationship Management 
        • Successful track record of commercial negotiations and partnership management at a senior level 
        • Experience with planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting 
        • Balance scorecard performance setting, tracking and deliver 
        • Leadership role in major project management / delivery 
        • Demonstrated practical data analytical experience used to inform business decision making.

          Their success is attributable to its multi-functional and multi-geography business model, which is supported by a central Oceania Regional Hub. The Head Corporate Development is responsible for the inorganic strategic planning and growth of the group and is integral to the Mid-Term value creation goal. 

          The Melbourne-based Global Head Corporate Development is responsible for all aspects of M&A, such as identifying and carrying out partnership negotiations, scoping of potential acquisitions, end to end transactions and post merger integration. In addition, this position leads and delivers high-value strategic regional initiatives.  

          This is a highly visible role with regular C-Suite engagement. You will run a small team of professionals. 

          Key Accountabilities for this role are the following:  

          • You will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and managing merger & acquisition activates and (M&A) opportunities that are aligned with the company’s Mid-Term Plan.  
          • You will be responsible for initiating, handling, and concluding all transactions, while ensuring that all agreements are executed with strong engagement from functional stakeholders, including best practice handover and transition to business baseline. 
          • You will offer strategic recommendations in relation to M&A activities and PMI. 
          • Develop and manage relationships with external stakeholders like investment banks, consulting firms, and other advisors. You will be able to create proposals, negotiate terms, and more. 
          • You will become an expert in identifying and negotiating with strategic partners that will help deliver business success metrics.  
          • You will ensure that contractual terms and conditions are delivered in a manner that meets the expectations of the business. 
          • You will be responsible for leading high value projects and driving objective evaluation of the highest-value problems to solve for the business.  
          • Manage a small team, mentoring and driving excellence. 

          Key Requirements include:

          • Experience driving M&A activities in large scale, matrixed organisations.  
          • Investment Banking or M&A consulting experience or In-House Corporate Development experience is required 
          • Strong demonstrated experience in identification and execution of mergers and acquisitions  
          • Experience in executing high value strategic projects, demonstrating ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders to deliver the benefits  
          • Demonstrated experience in change management. 
          • A Strategic mindset is a must have! 
          • Strong financial acumen and ability to assess financial implications of decisions and recommendations.  
          • Strong negotiation skills to manage negotiations through any M&A. 
          • Legal understanding of requirements when executing any M&A.  
          • Strong analytical skills to formulate key commercial and market insights, develop intervention strategies to take advantage of opportunities and mitigate challenges plans.  
          • Strong leadership capabilities (communication, influencing, customer focus and business acumen).
