We are hiring for a Sydney-based Prinicipal and this is a fantastic opportunity in a leading retail business to coordinate and carry out evaluation and commercial development of new projects and investments to support Group financial objectives. 

This is a hugely diverse role across Strategy for the group and their umbrella business, transactions and operations for the existing businesses. 

Other job responsibilities for this Sydney-based Principal role include: 

  • Understand new investment opportunities to exploring trends in the industry 
  • Evaluate projects and develop detailed financial models 
  • Provide perspective on how these decisions will impact your business 
  • Collect data, analyse data, and then make decisions based on the information before you. 
  • Analyse other data related to project economics (production, marketing, costing etc.) and use this to determine appropriate forecasts for prospective investments  
  • Develop and use sophisticated models to facilitate financial planning and evaluation to prepare reports to the required standard with a focus on guiding investment decisions.  
  • Expand knowledge on how to best serve the customers.  
  • Undertake peer reviews and provide constructive feedback on project deliverables as well as respond to requests for research on new investment opportunities.  
  • Prepare or monitor the preparation of research reports with clear recommendations and next steps 
  • Identify opportunities and drive development.  
  • Be aware of issues facing the company’s businesses, maintain awareness of Australian corporate activity 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external advisors 
  • Provide advice to internal clients in an effective manner 

Job Requirements: 

To be successful in this role, you will need:  

  • Tertiary qualifications 
  • Exposure to detailed financial evaluation of commercial projects 
  • Strategy management consulting or IB experience 
  • Demonstrate strong technical capabilities and judgement skills.  
  • You should have integrity.  
  • You have technical capabilities, a good sense of judgement, and should be performance focused. 
  • Build wide and effective networks of contacts inside and outside the organisation 
  • Communicates confidently and articulately

    We are hiring for a Sydney-based Senior manager, Group Strategy.

    Group Strategy is a function reporting to the CEO that develops and drives a coordinated strategic agenda across the Group while reinforcing the Group’s Purpose and Values. They are responsible for developing and driving the Group’s strategic agenda and coordinating with other functions on project priorities. 

    These activities include several different tasks that are still being refined.  

    • Review and analyse the operating environment, identify potential medium to long term issues and trends that are strategic for the Group’s portfolio of businesses.  
    • Evaluate the implications of environmental change and make recommendations to help achieve the Group’s vision and objectives over the medium to long term. 
    • Take charge of developing the annual company strategy with the help of the Executive Leadership Team and Board.    

    This is a very senior role in the organisation, reporting directly to the General Manager. The Group Senior Strategy Manager is responsible for shaping, scoping and delivering high quality strategy solutions at the corporate level. A person who takes up this position will report to the General Manager and be responsible for contributing to, and often driving project efforts to drive high impact outcomes supported by quality research and insightful analysis, producing high quality discussion papers and visual communications. 

    Job Requirements: 

    • Completion of a bachelor’s degree 
    • Several years’ experience in strategy, corporate finance, venture building or similar 
    • Exposure to the financial services sector is a plus 
    • Ability to take ownership of complex strategic cases, with demonstrated structured problem-solving capability and hypothesis-led thinking and analysis 
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and efficiently in high performing teams 
    • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills

      •  Strong written and presentation skills and the ability to convert data into insight and prepare compelling, persuasive reports and presentations 
      • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively influence a diverse range of stakeholders including senior leaders, technical and functional specialists, operational and line managers 
      • Experience in successfully partnering across functions in the development and implementation of strategies to deliver commercial outcomes within complex, matrix organisations 
      • Able to work across simultaneous assignments efficiently, accurately and at pace
