This role can be based in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane and is working for an established and highly regarded Chief Strategy Officer.  

The Company is looking for a Sydney-based or Brisbane-based Strategy Manager to drive change and make things happen within the industry and within the business. They are an Australian-based subsidiary of a Japan founded company, so they are particularly interested in someone with experience in technology related, transportation, and logistics experience. 

This company has a strong heritage and assets, as well as deep customer relationships, which gives it an advantage when it comes to leading the transformation of the logistics sector. By pursuing a customer-led strategy, the company can grow and transform in a way that is best suited for its target markets. 

Key Responsibilities include:  

  • Be able to decide where to invest in operational capability in order to establish industry leadership. 
  • Protect and enhance their offering of speed, reach, and scale to B2B and B2C customers as well as being leaders in customer experience, sustainability, and offer innovation. 
  • Gather data using different methods, analyse the data to gain insights, and formulate conclusions that will help you understand and improve the business.  
  • Develop recommendations to increase the effectiveness of your marketing and sales efforts. 
  • Work with senior management and executive leaders to help implement recommendations.  
  • Consult with them regularly to discuss business and organisational challenges and identify solutions. 
  • Take initiative both within the project team and contribute towards the overarching Group strategy formulation and execution.  
  • Thrive on working independently and taking ownership of tasks. 

Qualifications for the role include: 

  • A strong background in strategy development and planning is ideal, such as having at least 2 to 5 years’ experience in a rigorous global consulting firm or corporate strategy function.  
  • Demonstrate a proven record of academic excellence, such as having a Master’s degree in business administration (MBA). 
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical capabilities. 
  •  Experience conduction market and competitor research and analysis 
  •  An innovative and collaborative approach to problem-solving. 
  •  Natural self-direction, with the ability to operate in ambiguity and learn quickly. 
  •  Eagerness to collaborate, coach, mentor, and help others grow professionally. 
  •  Experience in transport and logistics sector a plus

    Working with the Head of Strategy you will help to develop the broader commercial strategy and transformation roadmap and support the analysis of opportunities to quickly capture value in the business. 

    This position, Brisbane-based Commercial Strategy Analyst, will play a key role in supporting stakeholder management and decision making by working on selected deep dives into these opportunities. In addition, this position will work on special projects that are in collaboration with relevant Commercial functions and other teams within the company. 

    Key Responsibilities: 

    • Provide support to the Manager and Head of to develop growth strategies to help the company achieve their revenue ambitions. 
    • Lead and support the Manager and Head of Strategy in identifying and analysing opportunities across commercial functions. Actively support preparation for ELT/Board updates. 
    • Develop, manage and monitor relationships with internal stakeholders across Commercial Functions, as well as across the company.  
    • Collaborate closely with finance and revenue management teams to help ensure alignment of strategic objectives. 
    • Identify and scope commercial opportunities and lead the sizing of commercial benefits and investments. This will include supporting the workstream within special projects and selected deep dives for value acceleration capture.

    Background & Skills:

    • Experience interrogating and analysing large bodies of data to generate actionable insights  
    • Experience in preparing CEO/Board level presentation  
    • Experience operating with ambiguity 
    • Ability to learn a topic quickly and understand commercial drivers  
    • Ability to synthesis insights into a management level narrative to drive decision making  
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral  
    • Excellent stakeholder management skills  
    • Knowledge of strategy toolkit

      The Sydney-based Head of Growth Strategy is responsible for leading the development of the broader Commercial strategy and transformation roadmap, to achieve our aspiration. Their main responsibility is to identify opportunities to accelerate growth. This role is also open to Melbourne, or Brisbane candidates as well.

      In this role, you will work with a team of Strategy Managers and Analysts to help identify and assess opportunities. These opportunities could be anything from new product development to working with a customer to improve service. There would be sprints, with the goal of coordinating with relevant functions and teams within the company.  

      As Sydney-based Head of Growth Strategy, the role is to understand our customers’ needs and design initiatives that meet or exceed those needs. You will also be responsible for preparing outputs to communicate recommendations, analysis, and value capture. 

      This focuses on performance benchmarking and insights that help executives make strategic decisions and developing solutions to commercial challenges.  

      Key Responsibilities: 

      • Lead strategic projects and deep dives, proactively identifying and scoping commercial opportunities. 
      • Capture commercial insights, create value optimization models, collaborate with Commercial Leadership Team on prioritization of effort 
      • Thought partner to GM Commercial Strategy to prioritise direction and goals 
      • Track the effectiveness of an initiative, as well as measure areas such as user uptake.

        Your responsibilities will include:

            Background & Skills: 

            • A background in Management Consulting, preferably minimum 3 years + and ideally coming from a top tier consulting firm, or alternatively an LEK, Kearney, Oliver Wyman, Strategy&, Monitor Deloitte etc.  
            • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Engineering, or a related discipline – MBA or post-graduate qualification Experience  
            • Prior experience in or a strong passion for customer strategy. 
            • Advantageous if you have integrated customer experience strategy underpinned by VOC, analytics, and digital tools.
